BIOGRAPHY
i am an artist-researcher working with theatre, video, ceramics, and sound to explore the body, language, and time. specifically, bodies that experience other ways of being in the world, dysfluent languages, and time that bends. i also carry lived experience with trouble with word finding from anomia after brain injury.
i live and work in toronto.
i founded a theatre production company in 2009. early productions included A TASTE in
2010 — a multidisciplinary showcase of 7 plays and a short film involving 18 collaborators, presented at
the department gallery mainspace in toronto. in 2011, i co-produced an award-winning mockumentary
short film MILK BATH. in 2014, i adapted 13 works by charles bukowski into a play, called it A TICKET ON THE 4, and directed and produced it at aluna theatre in toronto.
following my brain injury in 2014, my practice evolved to include ceramics that explored trouble with
word finding. between 2016-2018 I co-produced 2 short films for the 48-hour film project. in 2017, i
wrote, directed, and produced 20 — an abstract short video composed of my own ct scans exploring aphasia — which premiered at toronto general hospital.
between 2020 and 2023, my practice formally
began to include research and language-based sound with REMEMBER TO FORGET. REMEMBER TO FORGET was an international public call for submissions that invited participants to record phrases about memory, rituals of
remembering, and language loss phenomena.
guided by the question, “what does trouble with word finding sound like?” i wrote, directed, and produced
a sound and video art lab called 26 OR LESS at the charles street video maker space residency in 2024.
in 2025, in toronto, i collaborated with visual artist rochelle rubinstein on DRAWING A BLANK, an
installation that paired her accordion-folded books with a soundscape i created addressing
voicelessness.
i
will be drawing on all of these past experiences for my upcoming production HOW DO WE (SPEAK) LIKE A PALACE.
