Cowboy Mouth

Cowboy Mouth, written by Sam Shepard and Patti Smith, follows two aspiring rock stars in a dysfunctional romance—culminating in the appearance of the mysterious Lobster Man. After a lengthy travelling hiatus, this show marked my return to directing theatre. The choice of Cowboy Mouth was a result of my adolescent affair with Sam Shepard’s work, which swayed me towards a raucous and rude style at an early age.

This play was performed as part of a collaborative evening called A Night of Music. Produced by myself in concert with actors and musicians, the night included two plays and two live acts as a multi-part meditation on the concept of musical presentation.

Presented by Peacock Productions in June 2009 at the Poor Alex Theatre in Toronto.
