20

20 is a preface to a larger experiment around the data packed within my cranial CT scans. It is an embodiment of imaging and imagining.

The number itself represents calcium in the periodic table and is the substance envisioned, acting as a blockade between what I am thinking and my words. Thick calcium sits, hardening, in the shadowy nook carved out by the rogue stage prop that caused my concussion. As the tip of my head pinches, words are clouded, a high-pitched ring can be heard, and the back of my neck pulsates, causing my brain to spasm. I can almost hear it thump.

Tissue is displayed in yellow here. Half of the colour calcium shares when aflame.
